In discussing their Cape Town engagement photography session with me both Basil and Robbyn mentioned that they would love to have Table Mountain in their images as Basil proposed to Robbyn on top of Table Mountain, so the mountain was a big icon of their relationship. So we knew they wanted the mountain in the images and they also wanted a beach engagement photography session. Add the two and your options start to be limited as Table Mountain is only completely visible from a small hand full of beaches.
So we arranged a date less than a week before their wedding day and I suggested a Blouberg beach engagement due to the fact that it is the only place we would be able to capture what they had in mind. Off we went and upon arrival in Blouberg it suddenly dawned on me that even though we chose a weekday afternoon which would normally be quieter on the beaches, it was in fact…(Drumroll) school holidays. Beaches packed, people everywhere. I was intent to get what we envisioned so quickly drove out towards Melkbosstrand and found a beach basically deserted apart for some surfers. Location Found!
Basil and Robbyn were running a bit late which kept me on my toes for fear of losing valuable light for the photographs, but at the end of it all the timing was perfect and we captures some stunning images in amazing light conditions.
Some of my favorites as usual.
